Fraud Increase
I am so disappointed with Metropolitan and I will never take a policy with Metropolitan or advise anyone to do that. I have a funeral cover with Metropolitan for a cover of R10 000 per person with a premium of R214. I discovered yesterday on my salary advice/payslip that the premium has been increased without my consent to R499. I then contacted Metropolitan and I was informed that the cover has been increased to R40 000. They requested that I submit a sworn affidavit, 3 months bank statement, certified ID copy and a copy of my salary advice for investigation as if I am the one who committed fraud. Metropolitan, I know that your Consultants are hungry due to Covid 19 and other people cancelled their policies due to affordability, but committing fraud without my consent is wrong. I will expose you until you resolve my matter, I will even go to the media to expose you. Please reprimand your Consultants, I did not give your Consultants permission to amend my policy and I will never do that because I cannot afford the premium of R499. We are hungry like your Consultants and my salary was also affected due to covid 19, so now you take the little the I have without my consent. I hate Metropolitan.

I have read other reviews and realized that I am experiencing the exact same thing. Trying to claim money but I have not received any assistance nor have I received the money. I have resent documents more than three times as they request but still nothing. I feel it is absolutely disappointing and unfair that this is happening.

I dont want to trust metropolitan
Last year i went to go claim money at metropolitan and they tell me someone with my details are claiming money from my account over the past three years and i think its better to take a funeral policy in your own town

BAD SERVICE AT METROPLITAN CAPE TOWN
MY WIFE WENT INTO ONE OF THE BRANCHES TO ENQUIRE ABOUT A POLICY THAT WAS LEFT TO HER FROM HER LATE MOM WHICH PASSED AWAY 2 WEEKS AGO AND WHERE SHE WAS THE BENEFICIARY AND NO ONE COULD HELP HER SHE IS NOT FROM CAPE TOWN AND THE SERVICE WAS SO POOR ,SHE WENT TO THE HEAD OFFICE IN BELLVILLE FOR ASSISTANCE IN REGARDS TO THIS MATTER AND NO LUCK THE RECEPTIONIST DID NOT EVEN KNOW WHO TO REFER THE MATTER TO OR WHO TO SEND HER TO ,YOU GUYS ARE QUICK TO SIGN A PERSON UP FOR THE POLICIES BUT WHEN IT COMES TO CLAIMS NOBODY KNOW NOTHING ,VERY BAD SERVICE I WILL NEVER MAKE USE OF METROPOLITAN AGAIN

I have experience the Same thing with metropolitan and still I am,my mom passed away 2016 and still they haven't pay the claim,we tried everything,their service is poor I think it's about high time we go out there and tell the world about this,we can use social media to reach out to other people sharing our stories about this matter,#MetropolitanDoesNotPayPeopleBackTheirClaims

thy tell you we can not help you then i have to go to loan sharks for funeral we put her on my policy to think thy are here to help you i will never tell people go to Metropolitan

I'm experiencing the same now, my husband passed away last year in July and no pay out till this day. The always want the impossible things
Things they know for sure they are impossible!!! Like for one they would want a prove of a list of name that are on a pension fund and gdpf don't give that out unless the payout is finalized. U will tell them that, then they will ask for something from home affairs that they know I believe is can't be issued out!!! This people are a nightmare
They care less for the left family members all they want is money getting in!!!????????????

A Warning to people: Check your insurances. Companies are being bought over and when its time to claim, you may just lose all you have invested for your future> Companies are also using bots (dumb bots) which is not operable.
The world is changing so fast, be aware of what is going on with your finances.

Bad service
I have been battling for 4 months with Metropolitan's Anton van Heerden to get an answer and sollution to my problem. Still no joy.

Clients should approach the Ombudsman for insurance complaints. I had to fight against insurance companies who use technicalities to avoid payment of legitimate claims.I managed to successfully force them to pay my clients after threatening them with legal action

I wanted a letter confirming date of termination of my savings plan policy with metropolitan in 2008 . Also the amount that was payed out than.

My husband passed away in 1993, the pension i received was R2717 at the time, i had 3 small children then, its 27 years later the amount now is R5038 so in 27 years it increased with R2321, that gives me a average of R85.96 a year how pathetic is that, and last few years i didnt even got increase, only after i send enquiery Jan 2020 the R85.96 was added, since then no word from Metropolitan, not worth it beleive me.
