Went to emergency room with baby on 20 April 2023 19h00, waited over 40 minutes no assistance. Nurses are standing and talking about their personal lives in the hall. Had to go to another hospital

Good morning. Two weeks ago I had an umbilical hernia operation. I was checked into ward 4 from 12:00. My operation was scheduled for 4:00. 5 minutes before a nurse came in and asked why I had not put on all my bands on my wrist and told me to undress quickly because the theatre is waiting for me!!! I asked her why they hadn't prepared me and she simply said the wrist bands were on the table and that I should have put them on. I had not even seen the anesthesiologist. When I was being wheeled into theatre the nurse remembered to ask me to remove my last bit of jewelry. I asked the anesthesiologist why I was only meeting her now, she said she had been to the ward and they said I wasn't checked in yet. What rubbish. I believe her because the nurses clearly completely forgot about me. When waking up I had to beg for pain medication. The ward was noisy till around 11:00pm. Another patient got up to get my sleeping tablet for me because the nurses forgot the minute they turned their back on me. A patient also shared her pain medication with me because they didn't believe I was sore!!! Not one nurse took control of the ward to keep it quiet at night time. Surely that is there job?! All they were worried about was voting. When I was checked out, I signed the papers as per normal. They didn't even remove my drip. My boyfriend had to remove it for me then we left. Is that again not the nurses job???? The theatre staff was absolutely amazing. But the staff in ward 4 and then 9 I think it was where I was taken to were beyond shocking. That a private hospital forgets patients completely is beyond disgusting. I really feel like making a big noise about this. I wanted to go to hello Peter but saw so many complaints there to.
I'm beyond disgusted. I don't have medical aid and paid cash. You get treated better than this on a holiday which is way less money wise. While I know this wasn't a holiday, I'm shocked at the treatment in this supposedly private hospital. I did not put my real name on the personal info section because I don't know what will show up here.

Pta East hospital Pathetic ER , WORST ER EVER! I have a 7month old baby that fell with his walking ring on his face he was bleeding uncontrollably from his mouth and nose and crying a lot we rushed him to the ER where they were not busy at all i did not see even 1person bleeding or any children only adults looking sick but not life threatening we came in with him they told us to wait 1-2hours before we will be helped i asked if they can at least give him something for the pain they said no i must go outside the hospital and try to calm him down because the crying is disturbing the other patients when they have time they will call us , we decided to rush to Die Wilgers where there was 2sisters and 1doctor that assisted us immediately his main artery in this lip was cut off from the fall so the bleeding wouldn't stop they gave him pain medicine that calmed him almost immediately then they injected his gums to make it dead and burned the veins for the bleeding to stop , with that said PTA East ER is truly pathetic (and its not my 1st bad experience with that ER but i have learned my lesson for the last time with them) and if a baby with an uncontrollable bleeding injury is not a priority what is.

On Saturday the 7 April my father was very ill and I had taken him to the doctor. The doctor had mentioned to me that he was very ill and had to go to the hospital. When I went Pretoria East emergency room they agreed to assist him and I had completed the forms and made the payment, even the payment for the administration fee for the hospital and as it was very busy we waited for two hours before they came back to tell me that I must pay the deposit to have him admitted before the doctor in the emergency room can see him. This was very frustrating as first they take your money make you wait for 2 hours before they tell you they want more money before they can actually examine the person ( sick 75 year old person). As I refused to pay the R ********.00 deposit I took my father to another hospital which actually provides care to sick people and not use their weak position as a reason to steal money from them.
I was told by the sister and the staff working at the emergency room, Pretoria East Hospital, Netcare that they will refund the R250,00 and the R475.00 by Tuesday 8 April 2015. Unfortunately it is the 10 April 2015 and the money was not refunded but the vouchers were banked. It is very disappointing that the doctors and hospital needs to get paid when they did not even see the patient. It would be nice if the could refund the money they took from me. It seems that it is the emergency rooms policy to make very sick elderly people pay for treatment, then make them wait for two hours and hope that they die and take their money.
