Reviews of Tony's Seafood And Grill - Pretoria

We discovered Tony's a while ago and have been going there since then almost weekly despite very slow service and food and drinks we ordered the first night which never appeared, so we cancelled it as our meal was almost over by the time they wanted to rectify it. But we enjoyed the food and ambience and repeatedly returned.Last night, 3rd January, we had family from the Free State and Jhb come through all the way to Pretoria join us for what we hoped would be a great evening (we have not seen each other in 30 years). There was no music playing, only cricket, we asked for non-smoking and sat at the window where our server proceeded to sit in front of and blow all her cigarette smoke at us. Our food was cold, dried up and very small portions (Waiter's platter) after we finished our meal and coffees, we settled our bill but were enjoying our company so we were on the verge of placing more orders. At 8.30pm the staff starting making a huge noise, dragging all the tables and chairs into a corner and started to close down the restaurant around us! NO ONE EVER approached us to enquire if we were leaving, would like to extend our orders - they just shut down and lined the staff up outside, impatiently waiting for us to leave. What a disappointment and embarrassment in front of our guests!!! Closing at 8.30 on a Saturday night and getting rid of your repeat clients this way- why bother going back??
