The HSH Construction company HS (Faan) Henning (Pty) Ltd was formed during September 1973 by Faan Henning and Johan van Wyk. In 1987 Albert Pretorius and Johan Nel started their own business, Solokon Construction, specializing in construction management and construction surveying. They were involved in various contracts with HS (Faan) Henning (Pty) Ltd.In 1988 the tender for Medicity private hospital was won by HS (Faan) Henning (Pty) Limited in joint venture with Pretorius and Nel. The successful completion of the contract was achieved on a profit sharing basis.In February 1989 Henning handed the company over to Van Wyk who then negotiated a deal with Pretorius and Nel as shareholders of the company. centers, office blocks, industrial buildings, civil contracts and sporting complexes.In 1996 the company started trading under the name of HSH Construction. As a result of the construction industry in the Northern Cape experiencing a severe slump from 1997 onwards the directors realized they had to look at other options. They obtained a townhouse plot in Port Elizabeth and residential plots in the Mossel Bay area expanding their operations to these areas and began specializing in their own residential developments. During 2002 the company HS (Faan) Henning (Pty) Ltd was changed to HSH Construction CC a close corporation. During the year 2001 van Wyk translocated to Port Elizabeth and opened a branch office of HSH Construction in the Eastern Cape Province specializing in its own residential and commercial developments. During 2004 a new company HSH Construction NC and FS (Pty) Limited, was formed with shareholding by HSH Construction CC, Herman Pretorius and Hennie Damons, a long standing senior employee, combining the objectives of introducing a younger director with the empowerment of a previously disadvantaged employee to take over the construction activities of HSH Construction CC in the Northern Cape and Free State.
