Not what I will call a vacation spot.
Nor will I come here as a day visitor.
planned my vacation months ahead. First the lady working there screwed up my pricing...ok. move on from there. Then I requested from them to send me a paid in full invoice after everything was paid...5 months ahead .Did not get that either.
Ok...let's move on from there. The day arrived to leave jhb for our holiday. Got on the road early Sunday morning to arrive just after 2 in the afternoon. At the intercom by the gate I get my first interaction with Tobie (works there) not very friendly over the intercom. Get in...Tobie proceeds to tell me there is a R500 deposit that needs to be paid again. And they don't have card facilities. Wtf??!! This was not mentioned anywhere ...In the emails...on the website. Nothing...nada. ..fokol..Then Tobie tells me we have to pay an additional R 120 to get the aircon remote. ..Wtf!!!! Again. ...
Then we go over to the caravan I rented for the period we were staying there. From the get go...The place looks like shit...dirty...stinky and out of date. Reminds me of places i have seen on the movies where you rent a room for 2 hours to get a happy ending. The Tent is old...torn and seen better days before christ was born. The caravan....rot inside....stank like old rotten wood. Nothings works inside the caravan and the place is dirty.
Ok...what's done is done...We will just sleep there anyway. The toilets are in just a bad state...stinks of urine and the lighting is non existent. ..feels like some dodgy get together place for pedophiles.
The 2 days before we want to depart. . We arrange with the lady at reception that we want to get on the road before 5 the morning. It is a 7 and a half hour drive home... just to be met with her shitty service attitude that they don't do anything before 8 in the morning. But she will see what she can do??!!. We pay her salary?!?!?!
To make a long story short .don't go there. They want to make money out of nothing. If you want shitty service and even worse living conditions. ..rather shit in a shoe box and stay there. If your reading this and looking for answers on where to stay...I have now been around this area. There is so much more you can get for so much less. Only thing umtentweni Caravan Resort has going for it? ...One day the earth will swallow it and spit is out like the crap it is. I'll write this down as a been there...done that... Thank God it's over and spread the word...don't waste your time and money going there.

Once having insight in the very impressive website of Umtentweni Caravan Park, we decided to visit the Park during the past December holiday. I must however state that the website is outdated – bearing in mind that the lagoon referring to, is Ideal for canoeing, but definitely not for fishing and wind-surfing. There were also no organised events, and no newly opened unique Friday night moonlight flea market across the river, no putt-putt and foofie slides were available. Bins were also not cleaned on a daily basis - as per photos attached. The bathrooms make use of gas geysers – once the hot tap is turned on – be careful not to burn as it is a struggle to regulate the water. Marietjie Schoeman 082 688 1911
