GOWRIE FARM

Guy Smith, an attorney from Pietermaritzburg who developed Prince’s Grant, and Jubbs Greene, a local farmer, developed Gowrie Farm in 2006 as a residential estate and golf course set on a working farm. In 2007 the nine-hole golf course was designed and built. The course has been built in the traditional manner with push-up greens and rugged bunkers. These features were inspired by some of the classis courses visited by Guy on his trips to Scotland, Ireland and the United States. The most striking feature being the wild bunkers, which add interest to this natural layout. Gowrie Farm is a walking course, unlike most modern golf estates, which allows one to enjoy the beautiful setting, and is very much in keeping with the lifestyle of this region.
