South African born designer, Niala Orsmond, is known for her innovative designs and political concepts. 1998 Niala studied Jewelry Design at the University of Stellenbosch and experimented with pushing boundaries and being provocative. Her graduation show in 2001 caused a jewelry sensation as she won the title of best student of the year at the South African Jewelry Council's Jewellex Awards. In 2002/03 the young designer worked in London for Shaun Leane, known for his collaboration with Alexander McQueen, Swarovski, Boucheron and many more. Niala Orsmond has been awarded a number of scholarship for the Art Academy in Munich, Germany.
