The Health Monitor model is a stochastic computer-based risk management model that was specifically designed and developed to assist medical schemes to model and monitor, on an ongoing basis, the multitude of risks (financial and other) facing these schemes within the ambit of evolving government policy for the South African private health sector. This model makes conventional “actuarial supervision” of a medical scheme superfluous and revolutionises the overall financial and risk management of a scheme.
