Evidence suggests that some patients have better outcomes when they are seen in a familiar setting. Community-based care is on the receiving end of significant government funding in the UK, as the health service recognises the benefits of patients being seen at home. Community physiotherapy services allow for early hospital discharge, as well as preventing unnecessary hospital admissions, as patients who might have to spend an extra few days in hospital to see a physio, are able to be seen at home. This is beneficial for the whole system, as it allows patients to be seen in an environment they're comfortable in, and it places less strain on an already overloaded health service.
