TherapyRoute is an online portal that makes mental health services more accessible to the public, and facilitates an international referral platform and accessible online community for clinicians.
It was started by Enzo Sinisi, a clinical psychologist (HPCSA), a group analyst (IGA- recognised), and a psychoanalyst in private practice. His aim was to improve on the available tools that link the public to nearby mental health providers, and to enable clinicians to represent themselves (and their work) online.
It is surprisingly difficult to locate accurate information regarding available low/no fee services in some countries. Developing the means for such services to make themselves more accessible to the public seemed an esential aspect of mental health that wasn't being covered.
The portal serves to strike a tone that accurately portrays the gravity of the work while remaining human and relatable. Having been started by a psychoanalyst, it intends to ensure that psychoanalytic practitioners, and thought, are represented alongside all other respected ways of working.
