Loaders
- Ensure that the loaders load the correct items into the correct containers.
- Ensure that the loaders do not damage the pallets upon loading.
- Ensure that after each container, loaders must sign CTOs to take responsibility for loads.
- Ensure that there are no containers to load, loaders must help drive pallets from the loading station to the dispatch bays and intake pallets to the correct storage facilities.
- Ensure loaders fetch pallets in the area that are fixed and take them back to the storage facilities.
Drivers
- Ensure drivers drive pallets from the storage facilities to the loading bays immediately.
- Ensure that drivers place pallets in the correct dispatch bay.
- Ensure they do not damage pallets.
- Ensure that drivers fetch pallets at intakes and drive them to the correct storage facilities as soon as the bays are ready to be cleared.
- Ensure drivers fetch pallets in the area that are fixed and take them back to the correct storage facilities.
Operators
- Ensure the rotation of operators.
- Ensure the operators know all information about pallets.
- Ensure correct packing of pallets.
- Ensure operators check their scanners for new orders.
- Ensure that the operators scan pallets into the rack properly.
- Ensure operators fetch pallets in the hospital area that are fixed and take them back to the correct storage facilities.
- Ensure the operator upholds a clean and safe environment.
Scanners
- Ensure that orders are scanned into the correct bays.
- Ensure that CTOs are correct and that correct loading takes place.
- Ensure that a container report is done with each container.
- Ensure that loaders are loading into the correct container.
- Ensure that the CTO and container report are submitted to the office before containers are allowed to go.
- Ensure scanners take photos of damaged containers and sticker orders.
Operational duties
- Check customer orders daily.
- Plan that all orders are loaded on the day and that they need to be loaded immediately.
- Allocate specs to bay numbers.
- Contact transporters and request containers in order and follow up on delivery times.
- Instruct staff on their specific duties and ensure they understand their duties.
- Ensure that bays are filled and scanned regularly by the designated dispatch staff responsible.
- Check staff stats every day to see if they are performing their duties.
- Ensure that orders are put in bays.
- Ensure that orders are being pulled by operators and driven to bays.
- Ensure that containers arrive and are loaded immediately.
- Instruct intake staff to send pallets to designated storage facilities.
- Ensure the work environment is cleaned daily.
Solve operational problems on the floor:
- Pallets falling – investigate the situation and do a report.
- Mobile racking not moving,
- Damage containers are reported to the container depot and ensure container depot comes out to the site to fix the damaged container, and
- Investigate and report any accident or damage to the building.
- Ensure daily inspections.
- Ensure that pallets are fixed where necessary.
- Ensure orders that need labelling are done correctly.
- Ensure photos are taken of shipment where necessary.
- Have daily operational meetings concerning daily requirements.
- Liaise with dispatch office staff daily concerning specs, transporters, stack times, and inspection requests.
Transport
- Arrange transport schedule and delivery times.
- Follow up on delivery times during the day.
- Liaise with the other floor managers on their progress.
- Book additional loads for the day and the delivery times.
- Sort out any deviations and reschedule suitable times.
- Book transport and liaise with the relevant people regarding delivery times.
- Determine the delivery sequence for Conventional/direct shipping.
- Ensure all add layers are done and paperwork is in order.
- If any, ensure all stickers are done for above mentioned.
Staff
- Check staff absenteeism and give warnings accordingly.
- Hand out time sheets and pay slips.
- Ensure the overtime list is done for the week.
- Ensure the cleaning list is up for the week.
- Ensure the lunch roster is up and that staff go at the correct times.
Inspections
- Ensure all documentation is double-checked before inspection.
- All pallets are stored correctly.
- All boxes are pulled and displayed as requested.
- Physically check all pallets for damages.
- Ensure there is enough staff available for the inspection.
- Once inspections are done, ensure that all boxes are placed back on the correct pallets and stored correctly.
- Provide an estimated loading date for planning purposes.
- Ensure that bays are updated to reflect the correct locations of shipments on the system.
- Ensure that all documents are ready on the day of loading.
- Ensure containers arrive on time and ensure the loading process runs smoothly.
Salary:
- R25 000 - R35 000, in line with experience and qualifications.
