Matt studied at Oxford School of Architecture and joined the practice in 1992. Having designed and delivered a number of very successful health, education and science projects in the UK, some of Matt’s more notable projects include the delivery of a new generation of Medical Schools for the Universities of Plymouth & Exeter; the development of one of the first Diagnostic and Treatment Centers in the UK; and the Mental Health Unit component of the £300 million Peterborough Hospital PPP development and the management of the companies Term Contract for of the Atomic Weapons Agency in the UK. Matt went on to represent the company in a number of international collaborations in Ireland, Australia, Italy and the Middle East and, having grown up in Kenya, Matt returned to South Africa in

2004 to established Nightingale’s Cape Town Branch as Principal Director responsible for building the office to its current size of 35+ staff. He is now the Managing Director of Nightingale Architects (SA) Pty Ltd. Matt has excellent understanding of the management, procurement, design and project delivery of medium and large scale, complex buildings and he has a broad range of experience of a wide range of building types including higher education; healthcare; retail; commercial; & ministry defense projects. He previously worked for a London and Johannesburg based Architects on a broad range of commercial retail and leisure projects.
