Reviews of FRESHOUSE MARKET OLIVEDALE - Randburg

I'm really impressed with this store. They have an excellent butcher with excellent cuts of meat. The pricing is very competitive especially with chicken. The fresh section is awesome with coriander, mint and parsley still growing in beds of water. The vegetable mixes are great, and the bakery is pretty upmarket. I am a regular here now. I have to mention the great coffee shop outside and the food cart serving up delicious burgers at a fraction of the price of the fast food outlets in the area.

I bought smoked chicken from this store on the 20th June 2017, it was so tough we could not chew it! Their bakery goods are left uncovered on a table - flies sit on the pies and bread. I brought this to the attention of one of the staff members however nothing has improved at this newly opened store. I do not expect their doors to be open too much longer.

I had the same problem as Tanya - Wood was advertised ON SPECIAL on Sunday 18th June 2017 at R55-00 for 50kg. I contacted them back via WhatsApp to double check that this price was correct as advertised and they confirmed that it was. On arrival at the store I questioned the weight of the bag and the manager had it weighed - it was 20kg not 50kg.

The manager refused to give us the 50kg as advertised and after my husband confronted him and an argument ensued he refused to let us purchase the goods we had chosen - throwing them on the till at the cashier and told us he doesn't need our money and chased us out of the store. He also threatened my husband and said they should step outside and settle the matter.

It is no loss to me as I have so many other options where I can shop and I definitely don't need to shop where there is a manager that cannot admit when he is wrong and treats his customers with such contempt.

Illegal advertising is against the law and this guy needs to catch a wake up.

The worst Experience ever. The Manager did not check on his prices displayed on the shelves. A whole chicken with Vegetables was advertised on the shelves as 49.99 EACH. There where no place on the special shown that it is per kg, only EACH. So I took two. The manager checked on this and admitted it was an Human ERROR. He refused to give it for 49.99. His attitude was so shocking towards me and so rude. He was not willing to part TWO for that price his shop displayed and then fix it. He said Leaf all or take it for more money. This was not my Error but his own. I was in the process to purchase R1000.00 worth of food. But that did not bother him in the least. He does not want clients.

I went to the Market for the first time yesterday & I was very impressed!! All fresh goods at great prices and a huge variety for a fantastic grocery shopping experience
