Sedibeng Children's Haven is a Section 21 Non-Profit Organization offering a place of safety to children (age 2 - 14) who are removed from abusive situations
SCH had humble beginnings in a small house situated in Market Avenue, Vereeniging. It was originally facilitated by Vereeniging Rotary Club and was used by various welfare organizations.
It was only after the house was all but abandoned that the late Rev Barry Boyd came to hear that the house had fallen on bad times.
Rev Boyd wanted to see if St Luke's Presbyterian Church and its congregation could be of assistance. It was clear that the needs of the house outweighed the means that could be provided from the limited state funds received in lieu of court grants. It was as a result of this meeting that Rev Boyd approached several businesses to see if they could collectively provide for the needs of the house and the children placed. A committee of seven was elected and a Section 21 company was formed to look after the affairs of the house and Sedibeng Children's Haven was born.
