Tourist trap!
Visited the Johannesburg store November 9. Worst experience ever.

First, they post sign for 50/75% sale to draw you in the shop, and once in, you quickly find there are really no sale items “available.”

Second, when I asked the total price on a few items picked out for my wife the sales girl replied “2-7”, which I took to mean ZAR2700 (about $190), which I said fine to and paid with my card. Only after having exited the store and reviewing my receipt later did I realize the cost was in fact ZAR27,000 ($1900)! My fault of course for not paying closer attention while signing the receipt, especially since when I immediately went back to return the items the reply was “sorry, we have a no return policy.” True that they seem to do, but very much in small print on the receipt, which for a short-sighted person such as I, hard to pick up. More annoyingly, when I told the sales girl they should be transparent with their customers by posting more visible notices, her reply was “yes we do, in the dressing room.” Utterly disingenuous, borderline dishonest, and clearly a predatory practice.

Finally, the tactics appear to be a company policy / culture since when I insisted the sales girl call the persons responsible for the store, and after hearing their conversation, where whomever she was speaking with seemed more interested in finding out whether she’d secured a signed receipt, they declined to even speak with me.

So buyer definitively be aware! Bad faith, dishonest practices, and quite mediocre/mundane items for the ridiculous prices being charged, which explains why they are so desperate for you to keep it!

PUBLIC USER
Hello Sir,
Firstly may I point out that we have over 3 decades of business behind our brand and countless Jen Kahn aficionados some of which still wear items bought more than 10 years ago due to the high quality standard of our garments. Our store manager has been working for us for 8 years now, she is experienced in her position and service. Nelly has never experienced a situation whereby a client is not aware of what they are paying, and this is due to our prices as we are, after all, luxury brand.

We have been running a sale for a few weeks now, and therefore have fewer garments than we did when our sale started. The sale sign clearly reads 50% up to 70% on selected items. This is normal practice for retail stores all over the world.

When you came into our store you asked for the price of the vanilla animal print linen tunic that was on display in the window. Nelly told you the price was R8995.00. You asked for the sale discount price and Nelly expressed that as it was from our new collection it was not on sale, and that only selected items were discounted on the sale, however she offered you 10% off that garment and she showed you the sale rail and other items on the sale for 50% to 70% off.
You said you only wanted that item and requested a bigger discount to which Nelly replied she was not allowed to give more than 10% discount on that garment, and you said that was fine you will take it, but asked Nelly first to work out the total of the garment together with the necklace that was on the display with the tunic and calculate less the 10% which Nelly calculated and gave you the total, she also showed you the total amount on the calculator.
You said that was fine and proceeded to select another linen top from the rail and asked her to work out the total once again and Nelly did so again showing you the amount on the calculator, to which you said was fine.
You then picked a necklace to go with the linen top and asked Nelly to work out the total of the 4 items less the 10% and Nelly told you the total for all 4 items would be R27,882.00, this is before you signed the credit card voucher, where the price is clearly printed on the slip.
So as you can see sir I find it questionable how you could not have known what you were paying for each individual item and the total amount.
Nelly then went thru the slip with you where she showed you she had given you 10% on each item as promised. And to use your own words you then said to Nelly "don't worry my sister I was just puling your leg about the discount it is OK". You then left the store around lunch time (mid-day) where you walked past the store a few times.

You then only returned to the store requesting a refund the following day after speaking to your wife.

Our receipts clearly state "No Returns Once Goods Have Left The Store", and our no refunds policy is in accordance with the CPA, thus I must once again question your accusation of dishonest and predatory behaviour.
