In 1979 The Cape Wine Academy was founded in Stellenbosch, South Africa, with a view to providing a greater awareness and appreciation of South African wine. The concept had the immediate support of the local wine and spirit industry as well as the general public. The Cape Wine Academy is recognised by the wine industry as its official general wine education and training body .
