THEODOR HERZL - Port Elizabeth

In 1962 the school moved to the present site, where it accommodates three schools: 82 learners are in the pre-primary school with a staff complement consisting of 4 teachers, 1 secretary and 2 assistants. 158 learners attend the primary school with a staff of 16 teachers, 1 secretary and 2 assistants. The high school consists of 156 learners, catered for by 20 teachers, 2 secretaries and a Bursar (for the 3 schools). The schools are situated on the same campus, but physically housed in separate buildings. Some facilities are shared. Mr Stephen Fay, as Campus Head, leads the three schools, while each school has an academic head. In the pre-primary, Mrs Buffy Allanson is the head. acting academic head of the school. Although Theodor Herzl is a Jewish school, only about 12% of the learners are of this faith. While retaining its Jewish identity and catering for the spiritual needs of its Jewish learners, the schools have, in recent years, provided education for a considerable number of learners of other cultural, racial and religious groups. The school accepts learners, irrespective of colour and creed, provided that they fulfill the conditions of admission.
