FREE STATE STADIUM - Bloemfontein

During the reconstruction works the capacity of the stadium grew to 45, 000 from the previous, 38, 000 seats. Free State Stadium was scene of lots of important rugby union and football matches, and the citizens of Bloemfontein are famous for their enthusiasm for sport. Whilst rugby is played for decades here, football occupies a minor position; nevertheless the popularity of this sport has started to grow significantly, owing to the fact that Bloemfontein Celtic was founded. The supporters of Celtic are named Siwelele, which is a Sotho word.
