Company description
South Korea is a rapidly developing Asian nation. With a population of over 48 million it places enormous emphasis on international trade. Already it has become a substantial global player with Korean brands such as Samsung, Hyundai, LG, Kia, Ssangyong and Daewoo spreading across the world. A key component of this initiative is ensuring that Korean schoolchildren learn to speak and understand English, the international language of commerce, effectively. Show more Bachelor's Degree from a recognised university, sound physical health and no criminal record. It is not a requirement that you have studied to be a teacher or that you have even worked as a teacher although these will obviously enhance your being granted a work visa. You need to hold a passport from one of the following countries: Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, UK, Ireland or the USA. You need to be able to speak English in a clear and neutral accent. Your prospective employer will very likely want to interview you by phone before considering your application. Possession of a recognised TEFL qualification (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) is recommended unless you have a B Ed. degree. TEFL courses are run by all major language schools. We advise you undertake a course of at least 100 hours that includes both theory and practical classroom teaching exercises. Finally, Korean schools and colleges are looking for teachers who are motivated, energetic, engaging and willing to work hard. Korea has a strong work ethic, and you will be expected to contribute 101% at all times.
