RHRU - Durban

The RHRU core focus is sexual & reproductive health and HIV for research, training and programmatic service delivery. This is reflected in the diverse and dynamic programme portfolio, which is stated in the programmes section of this website. Each programme area is placed within a programme cluster within the unit, which includes the Durban Regional Office. These clusters are presented as the HIV Management cluster, STI/HIV Research cluster and the Durban Regional Office, which operate the Maternal Health, Barrier Methods and Contraception and HIV Management, Treatment and Care. Additionally, the National Office leads the Hillbrow Health Precinct, which is an integrated programme throughout the HIV Management cluster and is developed and driven by the National Office Executive team. aims to contribute to the development of quality sexual & reproductive health and HIV care by: supporting the South African government in the development of new policies that are evidence-based assisting national, provincial and local government with the implementation of approved policies improving the knowledge and skills of service providers relating to sexual & reproductive health and HIV promoting an appropriate research agenda to further inform policy and programmatic interventions disseminating information, programmes and research to relevant local and international organisations establishing models of best practice capable of being extended/expanded to other sites.
