FUNDA NJALO TRAINING

In partnership with The School of Service Excellence, who is a THETA –accredited training provider, Funda Njalo also faclitates short courses in customer service, effective communication, telephone skills, diversity and maintaining effective working relationships in all the major official languages. Charmaine taught English, Afrikaans and Zulu for 12 years before deciding to open her own training company. She has lectured Zulu at the University of the Witwatersrand and has co-written a series of primary school Zulu texts books called Masizwane. She opened a company called Khalipha Training Solutions in 2005 and produced a collection of teaching aids for teachers including workbooks, readers, posters and games. Khalipha has subsequently changed names and is now called Funda Njalo. In

addition she runs a hospitality training company that has successfully facilitated learnerships for Gallagher Estate and is a registered assessor and coach. She has developed unit standard based training material for the food and beverage learnership programme. She is a member of the Business Woman's Association and the Midrand Tourism Association. Since ARTS AND CULTURE and AFRICAN LANGUAGES have become a compulsory part of the curriculum, research has shown that many teachers are very frustrated at the lack of teaching aids available for these subjects. We recognised a need in education for teaching aids of a high standard specifically for Zulu - second language teaching. Very little material exists for teachers in the form of workbooks, study guides, posters and transparencies.
