Dear Brett,

I would like to get feedback on this email from the owner of this store please

Regrettably I purchased a SMEG stove (Ssa91mfx1) , Extracta Fan (Ksa900hx S/s) from your store and specifically MJ van Rooyen on 6 January 2017. Please let me explain why I regret this purchase of R31 394.26.

• As was agreed with MJ and the SMS received from your store the installation would have happened on Tuesday 10 January 2016 from 09h30. At 09h00 MJ called me with some long excuse that the installation will only happen on Friday 13 January 2017 due to the unavailability of stock. I explained that should this be the case I will expect a refund the same afternoon. Miraculously he found the equipment only to have two installers pitch at my place after 12h00. (3 hours later than what was agreed). I had to make arrangements to have people on site the day to oversee the installation.
• With the installers on site (who apparently have no knowledge of the functionality of the stove or extractor fan) they contemplated this job in access of 1 hour where after they commenced with the work. When I arrived at home around 17h00 they were still busy (so much for a 3 hour job), only to find that:
o the extractor fan has no power and the “chimney” cover was not attached.
o the oven does not work (only found out later that the installer does not know how to set the clock on the stove)
o the kitchen was an absolute mess
o Installer being unhelpful and just wanting to leave the premises because it is their end of day.
• I then called MJ to raise the issues and he then committed to having another team sent out the next day.
• Around 09h00 on the 11th MJ called me to explain the problem with the stove is not an issue as it is only the timer that need to be set on the oven. In his mind everything was solved at this point. I had to remind him of the extractor fan that had no power.
• Again MJ promised the technicians would be on site between 11h00 and 13h00, and AGAIN the timeline was not. One technician arrived just after 14h00 (after several calls from me). This technician then set the timer on the oven and it was working fine. He however then indicated that the extractor fan was installed at the wrong height. It was explained to him that MJ advised that the stove should be installed between 65cn and 1 m max from the top of the stove. He advised that the height should ideally be at 70cm and that the fan would not work properly at 1m. He left back to the office to arrange for another team to rectify this.
• The impact was therefor that the top rows of tiles had to be removed. Two technician arrived after 16h00, but without proper preparation. They did not have something to cover the stove to protect it and also no cleaning supplies to tidy up afterwards. At around 17h30 they left my premises with half a chimney for my extractor fan that was not connected to the wall, which looks incomplete and very unprofessional. When my wife enquired regarding the mess on the wall were the tiles were removed, as well as the holes left after the previous incorrect installation, she was told that they were only sent to re-install the fan and not for the other work.
• On 12 January now 3 days after the installation should have been completed I called again, this time requested to speak to the owner. I was put through to Ansie who advised me that she cannot provide me with the owner’s details. She then requested me to explain again what the issue was. I explained my concern that to date the installation is still incomplete and I also have not received my COC for which I have paid as part of the installation.

Brett surely as the owner on the Gas Company, the events that transpired should raise red flags for you. As a consumer of your product I did not have a good experience and would request that you take action please. I cannot believe that I had to pay R2631 for an installation that should have taken 3 hours and to date (into the 3rd day) it is still not complete. In addition to this the lack of knowledge presented by your sales person as well as installation technicians should be very worrying. It reflects very poorly on the professionalism of your business.

I would like to hear from you as to how this can be rectified. My wife had to take 2 days leave to have a stove installed and still it is not complete.
