THE SOWETO HOTEL

In dedication to the 1950’s, the hotel pays tribute to many of the hero’s and heroines of this remarkable era. A permanent exhibition of acclaimed documentary photographer, Alf Khumalo is uniquely exhibited at the hotel. Since 1951, Khumalo has documented the life and times of an evolving South Africa, both the gaiety and the sadness, and in the process capturing on film for all time, much of our collective history. His drive to capture the moment allowed him the privilege of witnessing and recording extraordinary moments despite numerous bouts of detention, arrests and official harassment.
