Waterproofing

About the product
Getting a competent waterproofing company or contractor to provide expert and professional advice on leak repair and water damage, should be one of the top priorities of any building owner.

Employing the right applicator for executing the job is equally important, and the Waterproofing Division of CEILSpray provides a solution-based answer to reinstating and protecting buildings against the ingress of water by using quality materials and an experienced workforce.

Waterproofing is achieved with the use of an acrylic based liquid plastic compound which is suitable for most horizontal or vertical surfaces, used with a fibre mesh for added strength and flexibility.

The end result is an elastic, durable and watertight finish that is resistant to mould and fungus, can even be used to treat difficult areas and joints where conventional waterproofing cannot be applied. It is also ideal for sealing joints and bridging cracks.

Negative Waterproofing
The cause of water or moisture in basements is usually ground water or moisture which penetrates into the basement through the floor slab or the basement walls. Such defects are frequently encountered in older buildings, but new buildings can also be affected.

Construction of basements is usually carried out during the dry season, so designers, owners and craftsmen often overlook the effects of the rainy seasons which will expose a basement to water. As a result the waterproofing of new structures is often neglected and does not provide permanent protection.

Waterproofing of basements is best achieved from the outside, but often it is not possible, so the application of waterproofing on the inside of the basement is therefore the answer. This is termed ‘negative-side waterproofing’, and this solution is considerably less expensive than positive waterproofing from the outside of an existing building, which involves excavating a trench to install additional drainage pipes.
