It was established in early 2002 by Harvey & Rene' Anderson, when suitable accommodation for Harvey's mother, Belle Anderson (who suffered from this degenerative disease) was impossible to find. She was the inspiration for the centre and with the use of the original farmhouse, where she herself used to live “A Place in the Country” Care Centre was born. The mission of the centre is to treat each resident as sa person deserving of respect and dignity, while ensuring that they are given the love and patience that is required for patients afflicted with the illness. Her infectious sense of humour keeps us all laughing. Caroline enjoys a jig and a joke. Thembi loves and laughs readily and Pumsile sees to the well prepared home-cooked meals on the original Esse stove. Doris gives calming hand and foot massages Each one has her strengths and collectively they make an excellent team. Rene is the official “hugger” and likes to be sure everyone is neatly dressed….she manages the facility.
