Signed my contract without my knowledge
I wanted to join, they took my details to be signed onto the wrong membership. Money is not deducted out of my account. I call to query and my cases just get closed with no feedback!!!

Planet Fitness - Worse ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am a new member at Planet Fitness Brakpan. I had a free month membership but on the 1st of the month they started to debit my account. I have phoned head office so many times and yet they did not fix the problem. They told me that they will refund the incorrect amount and correct our debit order amount, but again they took the same amount. After 3 months still the same problem. They actually how me money but now its time to pay a levy fee of R399.00 after 3 months of your contract. That payment is for the maintance of the gym after we pay so much already a month. They lie to their members and just don't care. I am so fed up with this gym and will never in my life recommend Planet Fitness to anyone. If you ask them to phone you back they never do it and i have to waste my own time to keep phoning them. The call centre never gets back to you. And they now refuse us to enter the gym of a levy fee.

The worst service ever!
They take money out of your account just as they please. There is no service at the "call center". Wish I never joined! How is it that a company like this has so much complaints and cancellations and still do business?

Cancelled my membership but l am still debited
I phones planet fitness menlyn and informed them l want to cancel my membership.They advised me that l should email which l did and gave notice.
Noone ever replied me when l call no one answers the customer contact calls.
Noone calls back.
They did not even call me to tell me my contract is expiring.
Who does that when l joined they never told me about auto renewal.

Now tgey debit my account.
Planet fitness is full of croocks.
Cancel my account dont be like that l will not.pay.

YouR membershipS are not even what you say they are.
I would rather go to virgin ACTIVE.USELESS

Poor Service
I have joined planet fitness in August 2018 we agreed that money should be debited on 15th of every month but to my surprise money is debited on the 1st,25th,3rd or twice a month.I have tried to fix it,nothing has changed.They have sent me messages that they are taking legal action,i don't know why because im up to date eith my payments,maybe one should take legal action against them.
Ceo if ghix company need to act!!!

Most pathetic service ever!!!!!
I am a new member at Planet Fitness Moreleta Park. The sales consultant lied to us about the contract fees and after we signed the contracts she went and changed that amounts without our knowledge. I have phoned head office so many times and yet they did not fix the problem. They told me that they will refund the incorrect amount and correct our debit order amount, but again they took the same wrong amount. They lie to their members and just don't care. I am so fed up with this gym and will never in my life recommend Planet Fitness to anyone. If you ask them to phone you back they never do it and i have to waste my own time to keep phoning them.

Awful Service
I’ve been a member at Planet Fitness from December 2018, at first, it was an amazing experience. It felt like home away from home, a place to unwind, a place to just be at peace after a hectic shift at work or a kick start to your day. A place that is supposed to give you that extra bit for the day…

But, unfortunately that is not what my experience at Planet Fitness was like. It was disappointing to see that gym fees are so high, but it’s not as good as the Roodeport one, it’s just…basic.
There’s not much interesting to do at the gym and it’s very limited as to workouts.

There are various costs that suddenly pop up, firstly the fees for the month are already killing, then there’s so many other additional fees… for what exactly as it’s not one of those top-notch gyms, maybe just has a high name.

When signing my gym contract I was given that card for a tog bag, was explained that it runs through 8 weeks, I did bring to their notice that I work shifts, unlike normal workers, if I’m lucky I get around 2-4 days off for the month, I was told that it’s fine.
On completing my 16 workouts, I go to claim my bag and was told I’m a day late, technically just hours late, as embarrassing as it was, I pleaded with sales manager saying that I did explain to the consultant that I work shifts and I’m not exactly a day late, it’s technically 2 hours, but I was ignored, I sat and waited, requested to please speak to her again… but she blatantly ignored me and wasted my time!

My point here is not about the bag, my point is about the customer service,
1. You do not disrespect a customer- that’s a rule of customer service
2. I informed the consultant that I might not be able to come every day, and being a few hours late, I don’t see an issue
3. How does Planet Fitness expect me to give a good review or refer a friend???
4. Being unhappy, how do you expect me to come back and train?

Ever since the 04.02.2019, I’ve lost hope in coming back to Planet Fitness, it was the worst experience ever. I’ve been a member at Virgin Active and have never been treated that way.

SHARKS AS YOU CANT CANCEL YOUR CONTRACT
MY daughter has been trying to cancel her contract and cant get ahold of anyone. Her contract has expired and they keep exploiting her as she is still a student. Check out Hello peter for all the comments

True. Even myself I be calling wanting to cancel the contract but no luck.worst part I haven't went to the gym to excercise since day I joined I called in to explain I'm already pregnant I wasn't aware before I joined the gym but still they won't cancel. You call their customer service it rings forever without an answer.The is deductions from my bank account of huge amounts which I don't understand is for what. I need clarity and cancelation please

Can anybody please tell us who to contact because they automatically renewed my daughters contract even though she cancelled telephonically and now claims thousands of rand! She is as student. PLEASE assist.3kabotha@gmail.com

For the past 2 months I've been trying to cancel my contract and I've been phoning and sending emails and yet have not gotten any reply . Will never tell anyone to go and gym there because you guys are quick to open a contract but not to end it . Worst service I've ever seen in my life !!!!

This is standard from Planet Fitness - very quick to sign a contract and absolutely not existent when you want to cancel. I am now referring this matter to my attorney. PF000540489

BEWARE: Planet Fitness will continue taking monies from your account even after proper cancellation
Joined Planet Fitness for 12 months. Cancelled contract by giving proper notice & stated that I will not renew or continue contract after 12 month period. Got email from Planet Fitness acknowledging cancellation. Planet Fitness continues deducting monies after expiry of contract. Telephoned Head Office, money still not refunded. Going to Small Claims Court if money not refunded by next week. Will ask for refund plus costs of telephone calls plus days salary to attend to this matter plus transport costs. Will take copies of other customer complaints. Hope Small Claims Court set an example.

I also have a same problem, they are so quick to take money even if you don't go to the gym, but if you have financial issues and you want to ask if you can be 3 days late for your monthly payment they don't listen or let you use the gym until you paid. but they can take the money even though you don't use their service.

I was on a month to month contract as well coz my original contract expired and I didn't want to renew it. I called to let them know that I will be cancelling my month to month arrangement coz I'm moving to a different province and there is no planet fitness where I'm going. they are still deducting, I have reversed the amount but every month they deduct twice, after three months of me reversing the funds they deduct 3 times. They can actually call me and ask me why am I reversing the funds, but no they just keep on deducting. I have called over and over to cancel but nothing. I was on a month to month, which means I only had access to the gym for a month I paid for if I don't pay then no access for me and I was happy with that. But now they still take money even though they can clearly see that I'm not using the gym.

Hennops park!!! Worst service ever!!!! DEFNITLY LACK CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS.. Will never recomend anyone to PF. Requested a transfer 3 months ago. requested cancellation 3 months ago.. still not done!!! no follow ups, no communication. Super fast in taking legal action.

My contract came to an end December 2017. I gave notice in September that I would not be renewing. They deducted payment in Jan 2018. I complained on 22 Feb 2018. They refunded on 27 Feb 2018 & deducted on 28 Feb 2018. After numerous emails and no answer at call center they again deducted on 28 March 2018 TWO payments!!!! How do i get my money back?

Planet Fitness are a bunch of con artists
I've been a member of PLANET FITNESS SIGNATURE gym in Capetown for 2 years now,1 year on a shared membership then 1 year on my own.the staff and facilities at my current club are OK not fantastic considering I pay R550 a month but that's not my issue.my problem is I'm relocating to KZN and the closest Planet Fitness will be more then 30km away.i spoke to customer care consultant and was told I had to pay R2141 to cancel my contract which I thought was abit unreasonable considering it would only 11 months left on it so I paid and not only did the cancel it a 2 months earlier that I asked but they ended my contract 13 days into the month that I had already paid for.how can that be legal?when I spoke to a sales consultant again she refused give me her name after she realized I was unhappy and the 2nd one I spoke to told me her manager was too busy to talk to me and wouldn't be able to return my phone call for the next 2 day.she also refused to give me a copy of the phone recording they have for "quality purposes" that would prove they are in the wrong.it goes without saying that they've lost a customer for life,I'll be rejoining VIRGIN ACTIVE again,I never had a bad experience with them in the past and I hope that the people reading this do the same.

HR Manager Ryno Strydom head office - Racist and Evil with Menlyn team
I have a problem with the racism I have been experiencing from planetfiness Menlyn team working with Ryno Strydom in the head office who is the HR manager .

I have been treated with so much disrespect and unfairly . He blocked my national membership to excess gyms yet he wants to deduct money from my account. I have tried to cancel so many times he has blocked that request as well for me not to be able to cancel nor excess gym all together. I believe his is pure evil and for him to be put as an HR manger with this king of Evil behavior is a problem . I feel like planet fitness as a whole is protect him because I have complained about him in all platform but I still hasn't received any response.

I called the call center today the guy I spoke to told me that the cancellation the menlyn team and the Menylyn manager that I spoke to process my cancellation has never putted it on the system ,he said it could be because RYNO STRYDOM has blocked them on the system not to be able to process the cancellation of my Contract.

I am sick for two months of fighting this battle .I am not paying any penalty fee for cancellation because I am only cancelling because he blocked my national membership not to be able to enter or access any gym.

Unprofessional Staff
Your staff at the Glenanda Just Gym are really unprofessional. Is it company policy to take client information and use it to flirt with clients and infidelity or the staff is there to help members achieve their body goals?

Please deal with your staff to stop perving over members and do the job they are paid to do or get new staff who value what they do and are professional.

Disappointed
Good day

I'm very very disappointed, AGAIN. We just joined Planet fitness again and the same promises are made, this time by the manager. I've got back problems en both my feet was operated on and I never ever gym before. So, the first time my and my husband joining the gym and so the guy who was helping us promise us to help and guide us so that I would hurt myself and hubby to lose weight. After asking and asking and asking when they going to help us. That guy first said Monday, the week went then the month. Asking again, he said we must be there at 5 in the morning and we told him but we only gym from 6-7. Ok, then we will arrange for another time, that never happened. So, a nother month went by and nothing happened. We ask again, then he say we must be at the gym at 8 in the morning. Yay, right, we are working. And so we left the gym, paying almost R5000 for nothing. O, and then there was no package for partners, that guy's words and we joint each on our own and pay more than our friends.
We just join Planet fitness again first week in October. Promisses are made and nothing happened. I'm very very disappointed. If I get hurt who is responsible for my injuries, after we ask again and no professional person help me? There are no body professional on the floor during the time we gym. Nobody who assist or see that everything and everyone is fine. The super circuit is messed up and the people doesn't start at the point and
Then the ones who start at the point needs to wait for those who just cut in or jump around.
What on earth is going on? We probably wasting our money again and hurt ourselves. Do we need to quit again because of the poor service?
This is very unprofessional of Rustenburg's gym.......

firstly Planet fitness is such a rid off for cancellation if you phone on the actually day for cancellation they work on a month to month notice thou the contract has expired i will sue them for giving false info and they customer service have a very pathetic attitude on treating clients with understanding i joined the gym being a student where in the world do they get off deduction money when contract has expired this is seriously just plane wrong i phoned on the 15th of September 2017 and it will only take them next month of October after deductions before they cancel this nonsense of a contract MY WORD I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND NO ONE TO JOIN THIS GYM

Hi im so fed up with you guys. Last month u deducted the 249 this month again twice. I want all my money back tomorrow. I will sue you planet fitness for false promises when signing a contract. Cancel my damn contract. In 4 months it happened twice that u deducted double!!!!!!!! Ive got all the prove. I dont even gym there anymore because 90% of the time the equipment is faulty upstairs. Riette Bernardo..... Oh and that bag that i didnt receive when signing a contract u can keep it because that how u lie to members.

Injuries sustained at Planet Fitness
I sustained injuries at Planet Fitness Rosebank Gym due to an accident. The steam room glass (!!!) came out of its hinges and shattered on me causing deep skin wounds and requiring stitches. Three weeks after the accident healing has not been complete. Planet Fitness DENY RESPONSIBILITY and REFUSE TO COMMUNICATE with me. I view this as NEGLIGENCE - BREACH of HEALTH AND SAFETY REGULATIONS and LACK OF RESPONSIBILITY.

I signed up with a gentleman by the name Lets at the Centurion gate branch earlier this month. I would be starting my gym beginning of August. Yesterday I received a phone call from a gentleman by the name Inus from Hennops branch. He was telling me that I needed to cancel my first membership and bring my ID and sign up properly with him so that all my things can run smoothly. I had imeagined the two gentlemen work together, but something about the word "cancel" just didn't sit well with me. I contacted Lets, the gentleman I signed up with initially. And told him I have been approached by his colleague who insisted I come sign up with him instead. He mentioned how he knew nothing about it and I realized that Inus was doing an unethical and very unprofessional move. Inus then got his manager JP to call me. And JP insisted I explain the situation, but I was already so disappointed with the way things were happening. I explained to JP that I will not be signing up with Hennops, because I am already signed up with Gateway which I was told has an understanding for us to exercise at hennops during the Gateway renovations. But JP did not sound please with me and the words at the end of the phone call was that my contract would be cancelled and I go to a different gym either than planet fitness. I am so saddened by this because I was looking forward to the ladies only section which I got to enjoy for two days, but because of employees trying to pouch clients, Planet fitness is technically saying they do not want me to gym with them and I remain at a loss.

I joined Planet Fitness in Oct last year in Glenvista, from the beginning the sales consultant told me incorrect information about how much my monthly subscription would be etc. Then one month debit order would go off and then the next month not. When I called they said I had insufficient funds, yet when I sent them a bank statement to show this was not the case they still said I had to pay the penalty amount of R220. This happens every month. Have tried calling / emailing call centre and branch and I get these email responses that seem to be automated as they do not answer my problem. I have tried cancelling and again have had no response from anyone at the club or Head office. This is the WORST service I have ever received and the staff at Glenvista are not interested and very rude. DO NOT SIGN UP!

That sounds so terrible. You need to take it to social media. I am giving them till the end of this month to come back to me because I was treated like a nobody whereas I was a client. I felt so robbed.

I would not recommend Planet fitness to anyone I know. Their call centre is not helpful at all and the branch that you sign up with is only good for calling people to recruit, go there with a problem and then its a call centre issue. They took R299 from my account instead of R199 for the first 3 months of my contract and when I finally get help from the call centre 6 months later they said its an admin issue that cant be fixed so i just have to pay the fee.

Planet fitness built a new gym 30m from my house in Vanderbijlpark. The outlets from the air conditioners are so loud their wake my household when the timer comes on at 04h25.
Planet Fitness manager at the gym promised that it will be rectified, after 6 weeks no action, no feedback and they are avoiding me.
Frustrated in the extreme!!!!

Having problems with Planet Fitness since I joined in December 2016. I paid upfront for 6 months and today they deducted R449!!
I transferred from Rivonia to Fourways and oh my word! what a mission to do that.

Worst customer experience ever!
Been trying for 3 months to cancel a membership
Called the call centre, emailed the customer service centre, called the club. Given the run around for 3 months.
Monthly subscriptions still being deducted from my account.
I now have to resort to every social media platform available to want potential clients of this level of extortion.
Should not have to beg for customer service like this!

Same here. Paid the cancellation fee & sent proof of payment. Fees still went of. I reversed the debit order. They called & sent messages to say I did not pay. I sent my cancellation with proof of payment again. Just saw on my bank statement they subtracted the fees again, which I reversed!

another unhappy customer with the service-what company doesnt even have a normal email address to get enquiries from without talking to a sales consultant who will hear nothing of you say because you are passed "cool off period"-my agreement was with my branch not head office and why should I follow up with their departments when I have a consultant who consulted with me and now have to pay R2300 because of their lack of communicating.I've visited once,,,NEVER Again.Be warned all they care about is getting your money!

Planet fitness plattekloof has thee worst club manager I have ever met. She is unsympathetic and unprofessional to say the least. There has been a spate of car break ins at the club these last few months and they wouldn't even employ a security guard as a measure of extra security. This morning 3 vehicles were broken into. There is a gang operating in the area and planet fitness doesn't care about the well being of there members.All she said that the parking lot is not her problem. Well guess we will have to see what negative attention this will bring your business in the media. I am gatvol!!!!

To i took my wife to the gym for the first time.nobody shows you around and how to use the stuff.my wife got hurt and nobody noticed i went to ask for help but the came and didnt do much and said she will go get a weelchair but took so long me and my kids took action i sent my kid to dischem to lend a weelchair .my son went started panicing because my wife leg was swelling up and her hands started pulling stiff but still nobody came to assist i had to take my son to the toilet to vomit.then went back to my wife.still nobody helping her.when i pushed her out of the gym the lady i asked for help didnt even ask if she is ok.shouldnt you have firdt aiders on duty and weellchairs on site.have more people observeing help people.all staff are doing is worried about sighning people up.my wife could of died and nobody tryed to help.iam going to take the matter further.mr a alexander 0817885489

Hi..my name is pretty ndlovu I joined last year at R219,I was with a frend of which I was told that if we taking the same contract we can only gym at the same day n time,I cn not come alone,so she took her own contract and I did the same,to my surprise there are couples who are having one contract and gym on different times n days,again,I'm getting paid on the last day of the month by planets keep deducting any day starting from 25 or 29 and I'm using a cheque acc,wen the debit order bounce I'm getting charged R20,last month they deducted on the 29th R20 and I dnt knw wat was it for,again same day dey deducted R239,which was unpaid and got charged by the bank,again they never deduct on 31st instead they deducted on the 1st again,which is paid.now I dnt know how much I'm paying.

This office seems to have no idea of their heads from their tails. It has taken them over 6 months to get a simple debit order up and running and guess what? They debit the wrong amount and on the wrong day. It has also taken 6 months for them to transfer my contract from Rosebank to Wanderers, surely its just a click of a button? I just can't seem to get any luck with these morons.

I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THE HEAD OFFICE CUSTOMER CALL CENTRE. I CALLED WITH A QUERY, SPOKE TO ZANILE WHO PUT ME ON HOLD AND NEVER RETURNED?? I CALLED BACK SEVERAL TIMES TO BE TOLD SHE WAS NOW ON ANOTHER CALL. I ASKED THAT THE SUPERVISOR CALL ME. I AM STILL WAITING??
I THINK STAFF MUST BE TRAINED TO FINISH ONE QUERY BEFORE GOING ON TO THE NEXT CALLER. SUPERVISORS SHOULD RETURN CALLS PROMPTLY, I WOULD LIKE TO FEEL LIKE I AM A VALUED CUSTOMER HAVING BEEN A MEMBER FOR OVER 8 YEARS. I DEFINITELY DO NOT FEEL THAT WAY TODAY...ON THE CONTRARY...........

very rude and bad treatment by planet fitness Rustenburg staff, staff have no idea how to treat a customer, i was told if i have problem with attitude i should go look for another gym. in just 4 months from opening they are treating club member in such a way wonder what will happen after a year!!!!

Shocking service received from the accounts department, contract cancelled ,expired, payments still being deducted, trying to resolve account from August 2012.

staff extreemly lax to pay back over payments , refuse to give details of Head office

Hi Johan,

I have got exactly the same problem. Nowhere can you access a number where you will be able to get cooperation (except at the gym itself). Maybe there is a reason why everyone is trying to hide. Maybe they have so many queries that they would rather act like ostriches than to do something about it. The agents definitely do not seem to care about the companies reputation neither does the supervisor I spoke to. It is all talk but no action.

Their service is up to shit, no matter what branch you go. They are so incompetent. They always have excuses and revert you to someone els to resolve queries. No one have answers for questions being asked.

First they took a double debit-order from my account. I struggled 6 months to correct this matter. Then my belongings was stolen from my locker at the Hennops View gym. They could not do anything as the cameras was not working. There are +- 4 car Guard's. When my friends laptop was stolen from his bakkie their excuse was sorry we went to close the gate.

I now moved to the Mega Club in Centurion. Had to call Head Office twice and went to the gym 3 times just to finalise my transfer from Hennops to the Mega Club.

At the Hennops Club I inquired about the black tag application. The agent hesitated on all my questions and sometimes replied sorry I don't know.

The agents at the mega club is so incompetent I have to ask the same questions 4 times and then they get a fifth person to answer the questions.

This is the poorest service I received from any entity in my life. Even the Government entities have better service than Planet Fitness.

I would really like to meet the owner of planet Fitness and tell it to his face that his gym is shit and that for the high membership fees we pay I would really like better service and more competent agents.

Exactly the same with me. Cancelled my expired contract 9 months ago, now suddenly there has been a debit order against my account.

Absolutely horrendous service, no one answers the call in 4 hours...when it is finally answered, no one is able to assist or give me any information.
