Worst customer care
Worst experience of my life...

I went in for my appointment on 13 March 2021. I was told my glasses would be ready by 27/03/2021 and due to the Liberty Mall branch being closed, I would need to collect from Maritzburg arch.

I went into the store to fetch my glasses on 1 April 2021.

I paid for the optic blue tint to be added onto my main pair but when I went in for the fitting both the optometrist assisting (Duncan) and I could not see any blue tint. I then took just my sunglasses and left based on the agreement that Duncan would check on the blue tint in abit and let me know via a phone call.

He did not call.
I called Spec Savers 3 times yesterday (7 April 2021) to find out if this issue with my glasses has been rectified and each time I had to repeat my story and leave my number for Duncan to call me back. Its now almost 10pm on 8 April 2021 and still no call from him.

Clearly after sales care (especially once paid for in full) is non existent. Duncan did not bother to pick up the phone and inform me as to what exactly is happening with my glasses. Did he not have a minute to spare? He gets a 0 from me for customer service skills. His incompetence and arrogance to not keep me informed despite numerous attempts by me to find out, it appauling and a disgrace to the brand.

I then get an email regarding an online appointment for 5pm booked with Duncan Russouw, the person who could not call set an appointment without consulting with me first or even having the decency to ask me if the time was fine. I only saw this email after 5pm as I don't check my emails by the minute - not very many of us do especially when we also work full time jobs and check our personal emails at our leisure. Once again - what level of professionalism is this apart from it being an email? There was no consultation with me to confirm any appointment, online or otherwise. There was no call back to inform me if my initial enquiry was even sorted out. But I get an email regarding an online appointment for 5pm (outside of business hours). I left my contact number for him 3 times, but he refused to call me back to date. What was the point of the staff asking for my number?

I am frustrated and highly annoyed with this. I have literally been begging for answers and still have none. I am also going to contact my medical aid and inform them about doing business with your franchise as my glasses have been paid for by medical aid and the cash portion by myself. This leaves me feeling robbed right now as what I have paid for cannot be delivered.

Never again will i use spec savers liberty mall or spec savers anywhere.

During covert-19 lockdown my specs broke. I saw an emergency number on the door at Key-west branch in Krugersdorp. The service I received from Benre Strydom was outstanding. He went out of his way to help. I went for a test for new glasses and his examination was done in a professional manner and very thorough. His front line staff were polite and helpful and handled all calls made by me. It was a pleasure to walk into the branch. Please convey my gratitude to him and his staff. I have recomended his services to many contacts.

Scottburgh is the most useless branch
The worst customer service ever. Treats elderly customers with such rudeness and mimics them walking out of the store. Thi asi s notthe first time we have had such dismall service. Ifyou want caring and helpfulservice DO NOT GO TO SPECSAVERS

Service
Went to kloifstreet branch had the best service of any branch crew broke in half lense fell out asked them if possible to remove the screw cause kenilworth centre branch said they can't the gentleman took my glasses see what he can do I went to checkers cane back was finished got broken screw out put a new nose pad on when I got home I saw that he fixed my 1 ear that my dog when she was a baby chewed that's what I call great service will never get my glasses anywhere else but at the kloof street branch had a few dealings with that branch always came out happy with there service did not get his name but he & that branch should get 100 stars

WORST SERVICE EVER
Made a booking on line.Got to the store.Their computers off line for a week and cannot receive on line bookings.Then there was no optometrist available.Then said their telephones are not working so they cannot call me when an optometrist is available.I must came back in a week or two and then see if they can help me.PLEASE GO ON A COURSE TO LEARN SOMETHING ABOUT CUSTOMER SERVICE AND RELATIONS.This was at Newcastle shop 9 Newcastle corner.

Unprofessional Optometrist
The lady optometrist who tended to my husband at Tygervalley Specsavers 13 Oct 2020 made him feel extremely unwelcome. She was cold, openly rude, abrupt, spoke unprofessionally in a condescending manner which is totally unacceptable! She was also bitter towards him as he still had his lenses in. He was told that he should have removed them prior to coming for his appointment which is totally ridiculous considering he was there because his spectacles had broke! How was he supposed to see to drive??? She continued to complain because he never brought a container for his contacts, which was NOT communicated to him at the time the appointment was made, yet i did mention to the receptionist when making the appointment, that he was wearing contacts. She proceeded to fetch a container which she then threw down beside him and told him that he would have to pay for it!. I recommended that branch to my husband which I now totally regret. I don't think this is the kind of review you want to see but but then again that's not the kind of service he expected either.

Useless service Galleria
I had a scheduled appointment on 8 August 2020, I waited for 25 minutes outside the store as I was not allowed in due to covid, I still didn't get to have my tests as I was told to wait as they were seeing another patient. No apologies from the rude staff. If specsavers operates like this I certainly will advise all those who I know to abandon support for you

Specsavers UK and Europe
If you purchase a product from Specsavers in the UK or any other country outside of South Africa your warranty will not be covered by any store in South Africa. There are no commercial or legal arrangements between Specsavers in Europe, New Zealand, Australia, Ireland, Norway, Finland, Denmark and Northern Europe and Spec-Savers in South Africa. Dame Mary Perkins, the Founder and CEO of Specsavers, has confirmed such.

Very Poor Service
Three months ago I handed in my glasses for repair. They promised it would take two weeks, it is now three months later and, I told them yesterday to cancel I will go to Torga Optical. It is my opinion that Spec Savers service is non existent. Brits Mall lost my classes and after two and a half months said they would replace it at their cost (which I think is only fair), but after many phone calls and countless empty promises I told them to cancel I will go else where, The ease with which they came up with excuse after excuse tells me this is not the first time they haven't made true on their mistake and I'm sure it won't be the last. I am thankful that financially I can go and get glasses, I feel sorry for those who can't. The level of unprofessionalism and lack of care is disgraceful. You see the way to build a successful
business is one satisfied customer after the next, something they missed out on. Never again will I or my family go to Spec savers again.
