Best waitress ever!
So my parents have this routine, every Saturday they will go to John Dory's Baywest mall for their breakfast and bottomless coffee, and in my family we love our coffee. I recently started joining them and we always get big smile and the best serves every, my favourite waitress, Pushy is always happy to see me and gives me that one extra biscuit with my coffee. Our cups are never empty,and they have amazing coffee!! She know's our orders by heart. It's always a pleasure going there.

Waiter service
We came into the gateway branch and sat at out usual table and wanted one of our good waiters to serve us but was not available and a new lady attended to us. We started having our wine and settling in. As we were sipping and having a light conversation a guy walks up to us and greets us by our names and guess who that was,Mr Innocent the waiter that served us the previous week. WOW for a waiter to remember customers names and say hello by addressing us by our names even if he's not serving us....That's a 5 ???? . Mr Innocent needs to be recognized for this. Well done ...

MY FIRST BUT NEVER AGAIN
Good day I was at the store today with my daughter.checked out all the specials and the main menu arrived by the waitress Sifiso. We ordered the platter for two sailors platter to be exact.It was the worst Seafood I ever ate as you know seafood needs to be prepared in the correct manner.
However we ate what we could the platter consists of a half a platter of rice 8 chips, 5 calamari tubes,2 calamari heads,5 mussels in I don't know what sauce but it was like sour milk 10 prawns which had some oily sauce over like oil and some spice ,Sifiso had not checked up on us as wait done usually do. I got her attention when I just could not stomach anymore for a glass of water.I mentioned this to her when she came back with water that the food was disgusting she quickly got the manager Paul I explained my unhappiness about the food and listed everything above that it was not prepared correctly to the fryers, the oil the itchy feeling I felt on my tongue and yet he stood firm going backwards and forwards with me protecting the shop not once did he utter an apology or even any sort of compensation I paid for the full meal took a box with leftovers gave it to a homeless man in the road for my first visit to John Dorys never again.Paul you are a manager I think you need to learn customer services basics first. NEVER AGAIN

I thought about it and I would like my money back as compensation thanks

Poor poor Management
We recently visited John Dory's greenstone Mal, as lock down has kept us all indoors the opportunity to get out is a very exciting time.

We arrived at the store and sort of had to bring attention to the manager, that we would like to be seated and continued to fill in the covid register

While he summoned a waitress who I would assume were all eating at a table we noticed staff members charging phones.

After we were seated we had a look at the menu and asked if the sushi special was still available.

As we were ordering we were told there were no steaks available, as there was a Spur next door, and John dorys belonging to the Spur Corp why did the manager not run across a store and organize one? After that we asked. Our waitress to give us a few moments and we would order something else..

I then ordered the rib and chicken combo. After a few moments we were then told there were no ribs in stock.

I am from the Spur corporation and have built the foundation I have because of this company.

I am very disappointed to see that this establishment has deteriorated so badly over the last few years

A plan could have been made the store is in a shopping center why not go buy a small steak, why not go to Spur to borrow some items that are not available

Why are waiters not informed about what is and what is not out of stock...

Clearly vibe meetings are not done orders are not being placed and management have become incompetent.

Business are failing due to the current state of affairs in our country

A business cannot afford to make such stupid mistakes and hope to survive with this level of service.

And I can bet this review, will just be shrugged off and not acted upon.

mis treated staff members
good evening am writting this note as a staff member about to sleep on a empty stomach watching my kids crying coz they are hungry and all this is just because my boss Peiter Angelbrat, John dory`s greenstone mall johannesburg cell no ( 082 921 8074)is refusing to pay us our march salary and his giving claiming that the shops account is broke and was also affected by the corona virus . When we ask him he keeps on insulting us and threatening to fire us. He is keeping our tips that we had worked had for and the R20.50 /per hour wage that we working for monthly.ONE waiter by the name of Mike once complained about our salary structure last year november and he was fired that is why i would like to remain anonymous.

John Dory bluff
Well it is finally time I review here like I will do all of the platforms available. I am concerned the care from management is dead as I recently had a problem with a huge order of ten meals and 9 of the ten have been sick in some sort of way. (Stool issues)

So tonight I decided to do as I do .... and that’s to review . Firstly I gave the restaurant a chance for change when I caught the owner outside the restaurant and pointed out the issues of the meal that caused drama. He stated to me that he will look into it and get someone to call me. Our discussion had occurred around 0800-0900 around there. Unfortunately even with me coming here to do a proper review tonight.... I still have not been contacted regarding this dilemma except for one person. (Robert Allers) who clearly was concerned about the problems created and once again tried to explain and cover up as to why no one had contacted me. I believe what he was told to tell myself is an investigation was underway ...... completely nonsense as no one bothered to give me that information.


So tonight I do my review

I begin with two starters

Jalapeño poppers - 1/10
Poor popper and possibly the worst I have ever had. The popper was covered in an amazing batter which I really loved but the actual jalapeño was hard as an uncooked and old jalapeño . The filling was undercooked which meant that the crushing taste when you bite a popper was gone..... this means, there was absolutely no melting effect whatsoever and to be quite honest . A sick attempt at making such a great starter.

The chicken liver. 5/10

Wonderful taste in the sauce which I kept dunking my bread which is the highlight of the starter . The actual chicken liver was so rubbery I believe a basketball match was able to be played with one or two of these liver pieces.

Main meal
Coast 2 coast R99 special 2/10 ... the chips saved you ...

Presentation was not ideal having my sauce falling over my fish and my prawns placed overlapping my fish

Prawns where bland with drizzle of sauce on top to try hide it’s horrific shit bland taste

The fish - no seasoning , bland and down right horrible. Seems a store that quiet is not a store to eat . (Yes I have been the only table sitting here so I would of expected a little better quality. How embarrassing

Thanks for at least giving me chips that was amazing otherwise I was going to bed hungry

Other:

Waiter (Sthoko) was an absolute star with the manager doing his part asking each step how it was and unfortunately having to hear exactly how I believed it to be .

Overall a very horrible evening and hoping someone does something about this as clearly seems a lack of care is at this center in regards to changes and bettering itself when there is super staff capable to make it happen but there is defiantly a lack of morale seen . I don’t know if the store will be able to make it change as I don’t want to ask the waiters why.


Finally I have been watching this store and it’s good for weeks .... spending (rechecked today ) over R20 000 so far and I don’t believe the high level management actually cares for change example: owner

I kept on wondering for hours how John Dory's Olympus operates, as a loyal customers from Olympus I called earlier today looking for springs number since I came to springs for a business visit and was looking for a nearby john dory's so that I can call and get directions,and I was placed on hold by Chris for 5minutes, then he dropped the phone and that time I was on lunch, I called again and he said if I want the number I should google then he hung up again, I never thought that Chris can be this rude over the phone, you display a bad image of being a manager. next time I will call menlyn

We visited John Dory's Somerset Mall this morning. After waiting 50 minutes for our food our waiter came and told us the kitchen never got our slip and they are out of eggs. We asked for the manager but she was too busy to see us. Very disappointed.

We went to John Dory's at Mimosa Mall on Tuesday 7th March. We ordered the special looking forward to delicious fish as we are used to. What a disapoinment!!! The grilled fish was dried out and so hard we battled to cut it. The grilled fish was also very dry. The manager came to us and offered to replace the order. The replacement was a little bit better but definitely not the quality that we are used to.

I was a waitress at john dorys menly,nd lost a bill of r460 or so,the management did not investigate they just said i should pay its my fault and phumi took my phone and when others got paid i didnt get my commission or my phone until now and it has been almost 6months.pls sort it out,precious mabuza,waiter no:4,john dorys menlyn.
