For boating on the Sundays River there are two slipways, and there is access to the sea from the river mouth. Fishing for cob, grunter, shad, steenbras, garrick, and springer in the river, surf and estuary, is fantastic and is renowned to be the largest fishing gain in the Eastern Cape. The river also offers swimming, water-skiing, canoeing, and sailing for the watersport enthusiast. Places of Interest Other Places of interest include, Slagboom, the site of a battle that was ensued between a Boer commando and a black clan, the Piet Swart Bridge, where a fossilised limb bone of a dinosaur was discovered, the outstanding Fitzpatrick Library, which was built in 1959 in honoured memory of Sir Percy FitzPatrick, author of “Jock of the Bushveld”.
