HLM was first established in 1999 by Fournews Developments (Pty) Ltd, for the beverage management at Carnival City Casino on the East Rand. This initial contract was undertaken as a joint venture with the Compass group. Further contracts have been established nationally, and are detailed within this Website. In October 2005, HLM became a true South African company with the sale of 50% of its Shareholding to a 100% black empowerment company. The remaining Shareholding is owned by Fournews Developments (Pty) Ltd which is the parent company of the successful South African brand, NEWS CAFE and the newly established CAFÉ FINO, there are over 40 News Café outlets and 5 Café Fino’s.
