The Association's members are individuals, not organisations. On this website you will find details of who is eligible for membership, and the application forms if you wish to join. The PLA is an association of more than 150 members who practice pension law in South Africa. The Pension Lawyers Association of South Africa came into existence in 1996 and is a body of legal practitioners who specialize in giving advice on retirement fund and employee benefits law and practice. The Association is a legal entity and is registered as an employer for VAT purposes. It is a non-profit making organization governed by a Constitution. committees, to ensure the Association's regional objectives. The national steering committee is drawn from members of two regional committees, who are elected by members of the association in the regions. There are two such sub-structures, namely a Cape Region, based in Cape Town and a Northern Region based in Gauteng. Membership of the association requires satisfaction of eligibility criteria and on acceptance of membership, the payment of an annual subscription fee. Full and associate membership are available. The difference of right between the two is that an associate member may not vote for, nor serve in certain offices of the committees. An associate member enjoys all other benefits of participation.
